Crochet Unicorn Horn Pattern/Video Tutorial

How to crochet a unicorn horn! I made a costume version for myself, and a small doll-sized version for my unicorn amigurumi doll. Find the pony doll I used for my unicorn here: https://youtu.be/1g9OAY6187M

This is the pattern for the costume version. The doll version is just the tip of the costume version. For that one, start with a chain of 8 instead of 24, and then only do the steps highlighted in blue. Video tutorial is available on  my youtube channel, and will be at the bottom of this page.

Costume Unicorn Horn Written Pattern

1. Ch 24 to create foundation ch. (24 sts total)
2. Ch 3 for 1^st st, into 3^rd ch from hk, tc 1. Then, around foundation ch, tc 30 more. Pull just made sts to bottom of ch as far as possible, bunching sts. Continue making progressively shorter sts toward top of horn: htc 32, then pull sts to bottom of foundation ch, bunching sts; dc 32, then pull sts to bottom of ch; hdc 32, then pull sts to bottom of ch; sc 32, bunching sts at bottom of ch, until entire ch is covered by sts and a spiral is formed (160 sts total)
3. Add a tip to the horn: ch 4, sl st in 2^nd ch from hk and rem 2 chs. Sl st around post of last sc on foundation ch to end work, cut off long tail of yarn.
4. Once spiral is made, use craft wire to keep the horn standing up: twist crocheted spiral around wire, so that wire is threaded through middle of coil. Start at top of horn, to make sure end of wire matches up with tip of horn. To keep spiral in place on wire, pin tip of horn to loop at end of wire. Then begin to twist yarn around wire. Once the wire is threaded through spiral, tighten coil around wire by twisting coil more tightly. At the bottom of the spiral, twist wire into a circle that matches circumference of bottom of horn. Use tail end of yarn to fasten wire in place, and to stitch over any remaining visible wire.

Crochet Flower Skirt Tutorial and Pattern

 You’ll need at least 3 main colors: the main flower color, the trim, and the leaves. You could get away with using the same color for the trim and the petals, but it’ll be tougher to distinguish between each petal if you do. So if you want it all in one color, try using a slightly darker shade for the trim.
 Another thing to note is the weight of the yarn you’re using. You could use pretty much any yarn, but a thinner yarn will produce a lighter petal that won’t add much bulk to the doll; and a thicker yarn will produce a heavier, bulky petal. Choose your yarn based on the look you want for the skirt. 

For my project, I used “Orchid” for my main petal color, “Violet” for the trim, and “Spring Green” for the leaves, all from Red Heart Super Saver. I used a heavier yarn, for a big, bulky ball gown type skirt. But if you want a more loose, flowing skirt, use a lighter yarn.

The same goes for hook size. A larger hook will make a lighter, lacier petal and a smaller hook will make a heavier petal. I used a size E hook.

Crochet Bunny Ears Pattern and Free Tutorial!

 I used Loops & Threads Impeccable in Soft Pink for the inner ear, and Red Heart Super Saver in White for the outer ear. But you can use any color you like. After making the ears, they can be either worn with pins in the hair, which is what I did for the pictures shown, or they can be sewn onto another project.

To pin in my hair, I used one barrette each at the back of the ear, and two bobby pins at each side of the ear. I just stuck the pins straight through the holes in the stitches. Also, my hair is really short, so I’m sure it’d be really easy to do if you have longer hair. 

Or you could sew the ears to a beanie, hoodie or cowl, or to a doll.

I also used craft wire to make a wire skeleton for the ears, so they can stand straight up.

3. “Toast” worsted weight yarn for jacket, Red Heart Soft

For the Steven doll’s body, I used “Buff” from Red Heart, and for the Stevonnie I used “Warm Brown” from Red Heart. I used “Black” Red Heart for the hair and eyes for both dolls.

Realistic looking wolf costume ears made with crochet. Making this pattern in super bulky weight rather than regular bulky weight results in a sturdier, and more fluff-able, pair of ears.

To get the realistic furry look, I just lightly brushed my yarn after finishing my pieces using a hair brush. But if you prefer the fuzzy look of Homespun un-brushed, you don’t have to brush your yarn, you can just leave it as-is.

I couldn’t find a Homespun Thick & Quick in a shade I liked for the black part, but if you prefer you can use a different type of bulky weight yarn than homespun, such as Wool Ease Thick & Quick. It will work the same, it just won’t have that fuzzy look un-brushed. You could just brush the yarn, however. 

Or you could just use 2 strands of regular bulky Homespun at the same time for the bulky grey/brown, and black parts if you want that homespun look (which is what I did).

Realistic Crochet Skull Mask Pattern

Pattern has photos, and there is a video tutorial. 

I’ve made several sizes using different sized hooks, and yarns. The smallest size (which came to about 20 inches around,) was made using a “B” hook and worsted weight yarn. 
The 2 middle size (which came to about 21 and 22 inches) were made using a “B” and “D” hook and Aran weight yarn. 
The largest size (which came to about 23 inches) was made using an “E” hook and Aran weight yarn. 
I used 2 different colors of Aran or worsted weight yarns (black and white). I only used about half a skein of white yarn, and used some scraps of black yarn, because it didn’t require much black. I used between 100 and 160 yards of wht (depending on the size) and between 20 and 40 yards of black.The Aran brand I used was Red Heart brand, and the worsted weight I used was Caron Simply Soft, because I had it on hand, but if you prefer a different brand you could use any.
