Crochet Tulip Flower | Free tutorial

Tulip inspired decorative crochet flower! Use them in a bouquet, or in a planter for cute decor. Buy it now! Find the free tutorial on my youtube channel, or at the bottom of this page.

I used “cherry red” yarn for the petals; and “spring green” yarn for the stem and leaves, both from Red Heart brand. But you can use whatever color you like.

I also used a thinner yarn I made, by splitting apart the red yarn, to make the inner petals of my flower. You don’t have to do this, but I think using the thinner yarn just looks better, and that’s the best way to make sure the colors are a perfect match. If you prefer, use crochet thread instead for that part.

I also used 30 gauge craft wire to support the stem and leaves.

Cute and Spooky Crochet Cat Applique Pattern

Cute and spooky crochet cat applique pattern to incorporate into your Halloween décor.

Purchase the pattern here, or find the pattern on Ravelry here.

Click here to find the free video tutorial for this project

or you can also find it at the bottom of this page.

You can use pretty much any yarn, or hook size, to make this project.

Just bear in mind that using a larger hook or yarn size will make a larger applique, and using a smaller yarn or hook size will make a smaller applique.

Using a thicker yarn, like worsted weight yarn, will create a shape that’s more dense;
but using a thinner yarn, like a lace weight yarn, will result in a more lacy shape.

So use whatever size you think works best for your project.
This applique uses very little yarn, so it’s a perfect use for scraps.

You can find the video tutorial for this project, and all my other tutorials, on my Youtube channel here.

Thick Body Type Crochet Doll Tutorial and Pattern

My newest tutorial, and pattern, is out today! This time I made an amigurumi style doll with a realistically shaped, thicker body type. This pattern is so easy to customize to any size doll! This design is similar to my “Realistic Body Doll” pattern I made several years ago, which has a thinner body type. You can find Part 1 of the tutorial at the bottom of the page, or if you like you can find the pattern in my Ravelry store. Buy it now!
I used Aran weight yarn. Worsted weight may be used but you may want to use a smaller hook (like a size B) to maintain the proper tension. I used much less than a skein of Red Heart brand yarn in “Cafe Latte” for my doll, but if you’re making a much larger doll or using a smaller skein, you may need more yarn. You can use pretty much any color in any aran or worsted weight yarn. I used “Cafe Latte” for the doll in the tutorial, and the other doll pictured was made using “Warm Brown”.

I also used a yarn needle and some extra yarn to shape the body. Tutorial for this is coming soon! You can see the difference in the body shape between the 2 dolls pictured; the “Warm Brown” doll (the lighter shade) has been shaped with sewing, and the “Cafe Latte” doll (the darker shade) hasn’t been shaped yet.

I used a wire skeleton made of craft wire to give my doll structure, and an ability to stay in more interesting poses. You can forgo the skeleton if you wish, but if you make the doll’s neck too small without some kind of reinforcement, the head will probably droop, so just add a bit of a wire or a pipe cleaner to the neck.

Crochet Mini Mushroom Charms Tutorial

Mario inspired mini mushroom charms! These are super cute and quick to make, and its a great use for scrap yarn. Instructions for both styles (the one with spots and the one with the skull) given in pattern!

I’ve also made a video tutorial that you can find at the bottom of the page, or on youtube here: https://youtu.be/s6E-c7ByPF0
You can also find the written pattern for this project in my Ravelry store! Buy it now!

I used Red Heart worsted weight yarns in Red, Aran and White to make the red mushroom, and switched out the red for Amethyst to make the purple one, and Spring Green for the green one.

To create these charms, you’ll actually need to use crochet thread weight yarn instead. I kind of prefer to use the worsted weight yarn, though, because of the color variety. I split the Red Heart yarn in half to make crochet thread weight yarn out of worsted weight yarn. You can see how I did this in the video tutorial, but if you want to make your life easier you can skip this step and just use crochet thread, or you could also use embroidery floss.

I also used some black thread to embroider on the eyes, and a metal clasp to turn my mushrooms into charms. You could also use an earring hook, or a jump ring, or a keychain for these charms.

Crochet Centaur Doll + Free Video Tutorial

Check out my crochet amigurumi style centaur doll! The written pattern is available in my Ravelry store here: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/realistic-centaur-doll
Buy it now!
You can also find the free video tutorial at the bottom of the page.

This is a bit of an intermediate to advanced level design. It's fully customizable, and you can find a bunch of hair tutorials for dolls on my channel, to customize your centaur doll even more.

For the doll above, I used “Buff” (Red Heart Super Saver) for the doll upper body, “Aran” (Red Heart Super Saver) for the horse body, “Charcoal” (Red Heart Super Saver) to make the hooves, and a combination of “Charcoal” and “Black” (Red Heart Super Saver) to make the tail and hair.

For the doll below, I used “Heather”(Loops & Threads) for the body, “Rust” (Vanna’s Choice) and “White” (Red Heart Super Saver) for the horse body, “Black” (Red Heart Super Saver) for the hooves and a combination of “Rust”, and “Toast” (Red Heart Soft) for the tail and hair. You can use any color to customize your doll.

You can find the free video tutorial, and other tutorials, on my youtube channel at https://youtube.com/c/faerierings

To make the doll upper body of the centaur, I used the technique in my realistic amigurumi doll tutorial, which you can see here:

Crochet Horse Doll Pattern + Free Video Tutorial

Check out my crochet amigurumi style horse doll! The written pattern is available in my Ravelry store here: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/realistic-horse-doll
Buy it now!

This is a bit of an intermediate to advanced level design, I'd say. It's easy to customize the size,  shape or color of the horse to your preferences.

Amigurumi generally uses very little yarn, and I used much less than a full skein. I used “Aran” from Red Heart Super Saver for the body, “Charcoal” to make the hooves, and a combination of “Charcoal” and “Black” to make the mane and tail.

You can find the free video tutorial at the bottom of this page, or you could check out my youtube channel at https://www.youtube.com/c/faerierings to see more of my free tutorials!

Crochet Long Stem Rose Bouquet Video Tutorial and Pattern

The new tutorial is finally here! In which I show you how to crochet a rose with a long stem, just in time for Valentine's Day! In Part 1, I show you how to complete the petals. And in Part 2 I show you how to make the leaves and stem. If you want to purchase the written pattern, you can find it in my Ravelry store here. Buy it now! Find the free video tutorial at the bottom of the page.
You can use pretty much any yarn for this project, but bear in mind that the rose will be bigger using a thicker yarn, and smaller using a thinner yarn. I used “Cherry Red” and “Hunter Green from Red Heart Super Saver for the flower I made in the video tutorial, but you can use any color yarn you choose.

I also used a size E hook but again, using a larger hook will result in a larger, lacier flower, while a smaller hook will create a smaller flower.

I made my roses about 24 inches long (4 inch long petals, 20 inch long stem), but if you prefer a shorter bouquet you can make the stems shorter.

Crochet Princess Doll Dress Pattern and Video Tutorial

Crochet princess dress with puffed sleeves and overskirt. Pattern includes instructions for my Realistic Body Amigurumi doll, my Basic amigurumi doll, and a Barbie style doll size. This pattern is really easy to customize to any size doll. Find the free video tutorial at the bottom of the page!

This pattern is similar to my Fitted Doll Shirt pattern and my Basic Doll Circle Skirt pattern, but with a few extra steps, plus the addition of the puffed sleeves and the overskirt.

You could make just about any style of princess dress with this technique by changing out the colors of any part of the dress, using different styles of sleeves, or different fullness of skirts. I decided to make a Princess Peach dress for my doll. Let me know what princess dress I should make next!

Realistic Muscular Crochet Doll Pattern/Video Tutorial

Realistic muscular crochet doll pattern. A free video tutorial is available on my Youtube channel at https://youtube.com/c/faerierings or you can find the video at the bottom of the page.
If you want a written pattern, you can find one in my Ravelry store. Buy it now!
Specific instructions given for a 14-inch tall doll, but the pattern is easy to customize to any size doll. Pattern is a little advanced. If you’re familiar with making amigurumi dolls, this pattern will be fairly simple. But for a beginner it can be complex.
Use Aran weight yarn. Worsted weight may be used but you may want to use a smaller hook (like a size B) to maintain the proper tension
I used much less than a skein of Red Heart brand yarn in “Cafe Latte” for my doll, but if you’re making a much larger doll or using a smaller skein, you may need more yarn.

Crochet Flower Skirt Tutorial and Pattern

Crochet Flower Petal Skirt Pattern is now available in my Ravelry store! Made to fit my Realistic Body Crochet Doll, but easy to customize to any size. Buy it now!

You can find the free video tutorial at the bottom of the page.
You’ll need at least 3 main colors: the main flower color, the trim, and the leaves. You could get away with using the same color for the trim and the petals, but it’ll be tougher to distinguish between each petal if you do. So if you want it all in one color, try using a slightly darker shade for the trim.
Another thing to note is the weight of the yarn you’re using. You could use pretty much any yarn, but a thinner yarn will produce a lighter petal that won’t add much bulk to the doll; and a thicker yarn will produce a heavier, bulky petal. Choose your yarn based on the look you want for the skirt.
For my project, I used “Orchid” for my main petal color, “Violet” for the trim, and “Spring Green” for the leaves, all from Red Heart Super Saver. I used a heavier yarn, for a big, bulky ball gown type skirt. But if you want a more loose, flowing skirt, use a lighter yarn.
The same goes for hook size. A larger hook will make a lighter, lacier petal and a smaller hook will make a heavier petal. I used a size E hook.

Crochet Bunny Ears Pattern and Free Tutorial!

Crochet costume bunny ears pattern. I made a pair of large, wearable ears, but you can use this technique to make a pair of ears in any size. You can find this pattern in my Ravelry store! Buy it now! Or check out the free video tutorial at the bottom of the page.

I used Loops & Threads Impeccable in Soft Pink for the inner ear, and Red Heart Super Saver in White for the outer ear. But you can use any color you like. After making the ears, they can be either worn with pins in the hair, which is what I did for the pictures shown, or they can be sewn onto another project.
To pin in my hair, I used one barrette each at the back of the ear, and two bobby pins at each side of the ear. I just stuck the pins straight through the holes in the stitches. Also, my hair is really short, so I’m sure it’d be really easy to do if you have longer hair.

Or you could sew the ears to a beanie, hoodie or cowl, or to a doll.

I also used craft wire to make a wire skeleton for the ears, so they can stand straight up.

Spotted Yoshi Easter Egg Pattern and Free Video Tutorial

Spotted crochet Easter eggs inspired by Yoshi eggs. Find the pattern in my Ravelry store!
Buy it now! Find the free video tutorial at the bottom of the page.
I made my eggs using Jumbo Easter eggs, to fit my Baby Yoshi amigurumi doll pattern. But this egg is easy to customize to a larger or smaller size. I used color changes to make the spots on the egg.

I used Red Heart Super Saver for all my eggs. The colors I used were white, for the background color of all the eggs, and for the foreground colors I used: spring green, red, bubblegum pink, and royal blue, but you can use any color you want.
After making both halves of the egg I sewed both halves together on one side (the plastic egg halves were already broken when I got them -__- but it still worked! I just stitched both halves together with 2 stitches at the back, and hot glued them to both halves of a jumbo plastic Easter egg.

Basic Crochet Pants for Dolls - Video + Pattern

New pattern available in my Ravelry store!
Basic crochet doll pants pattern made to fit my basic amigurumi doll pattern, or my realistic body amigurumi doll pattern, but easy to customize to any size doll.
Buy it now!

You can watch the free video tutorial on my Youtube channel at https://youtube.com/c/faerierings,
Or look at the bottom of this page.
The first few rows are worked in rows, then the rest is worked in the round, if making for a doll with large hips, to make it easier to get the pants on the doll.
For best results, use light weight yarn. This is so that less bulk is added to the doll.
I used scrap yarn for my project, since the dolls I was making the pants for are so small. If you’re making your pants for a much larger doll, you may need more yarn.
